Counting Books

One of the things about being a person who always has their nose stuck in a book is that you’re going to accumulate a lot of books that you don’t particularly care for and can’t finish.

Problems arise at that point.

Do you skim and finish anyway?
Does the book count as Completed as it stands because you are Done With It? (This one is for those who are counting the number of books read in a given time frame.)
Do you sell the hard copy or delete the ebook?
Are you justified in giving it a review and/or star rating? (And is that for your own personal reference, or to warn others?)

These are things that each reader must decide for their own self. Personally, if I’m never going to finish it then I consider the book Completed and will rate/review it so that *I* never pick it up again. It’s for my own reference. I also include these things in my yearly count, as my goal is set with these in mind and they don’t make up too significant a portion of my reading.

What do you do?
